Super 8 and X-Men: First Class vs K.L. Hamster

Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera.

Last 2 weekends aku berkesempatan gi tengok wayang bersama-sama kawan aku, Salihean, menonton Super 8 di MBO, VIVA Mall yang baru berusia beberapa bulan (maybe 3 months old). Mulanya nak gi tengok X-Men: First Class tapi lewat sangat dan current time punya seat pun tak cun. So, based on review kawan kami Pa'a, yang mengatakan Super 8 ni worth watching, kitaorang pun sebat je la. Aku tak rasa filem ni leh buatkan kau down sebab first; Steven Spielberg and second; J.J. Abrams.

Ternyata filem ni memang terbaik. Semuanya cukup rencah. Ramai yang expect nak tengok devastation cam dalam filem Cloverfield tapi bila aku tengok-tengok viral videos diaorang dulu-dulu to promote this film and ada plak geng budak-budak, aku dah leh expect yang filem ni bukanlah 100% demolition movie. But the movie has got it all - from love, drama, family issues, the wrong-doings of U.S. government, and of course the monster! It was a worth-while watch so I'm gonna give 5 out of 5 for this one.

Then the day after aku gi layan X-Men: First Class selepas dipujuk rayu oleh adik bongsu aku. Aku jugak telah dipau oleh dia untuk tiket. Tapi takpelah, abang mana tak sayang adik. We went for the movie at TGV Wangsa Walk Mall. Unlucky for us, there were no 2 seats side-by-side so we went for separate seats.

It was a great movie. Walaupun tak mengikut cerita asal X-Men dalam komik, tapi terjemahan ke bentuk filem ni bagi aku sangat-sangat watchable. Untuk X-Men film saga ni (X1, X2, X3, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) memang aku dah put aside siap-siap pemahaman aku based on X-Men comic saga sebab jalan cerita komik dan jalan cerita filem dia tak sama. There are resemblances here and there tapi dah memang tak sama kan, nak buat camne lagi ye tak? And same goes with this one. If only they put in some more intense fighting or action scene, then it would have been a 5 stars movie as well.

Last but not least, it was a great weekend. Sayang aku tak dapat nak layan K.L. Gangster; aku dengar-dengar filem ni pun dahsyat gak. Yesterday I read somewhere, it has already reached RM6.5 million in earnings. Walaoweih! Congratulations! Tapi konotasi K.L. bandar gengster tu yang aku tak berapa nak berkenan. Apapun, hopefully ada producer and director anak Malaysia yang leh hidangkan filem-filem setaraf Hollywood. I mean, really, really really setaraf; bukan Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa O.K.? Trust me, extensive C.G.I.s don't make a film great or Hollywood-ish.

 How about this one? Can go for RM10 million aaa?
